Business Meeting of ISSAC 2009 1. The Business Meeting of ISSAC 2009 took place from 17:00 to 18:00, July 29, 2009, in KIAS, Seoul Korea. Around 70 participants of ISSAC 2009 were present at the meeting. The steering committee chair, Xiao-Shan Gao, chaired the meeting. 2. Steering Committee Members 2.1 Fachgruppe Computeralgebra was renewed for another three year term as one of the three organizations having organization members in the Steering Committee. 2.2 Elizabeth Mansfield replaced Daniel Lichtblau as an organizational member to represent SIGSAM in the Steering Committee. 2.3 An election took place to vote for a new member at-large to replace Xiao-Shan Gao. The organizational members of Steering Committee nominated Dongming Wang, Franz Winkler, Chee Yap as the candidates. Marc Moreno Maza was nominated as a write-in candidate. The winner of the election was Franz Winkler. We decided not to disclose the number of votes. 3. ISSAC 2011 Bids We had two bids for ISSAC 2011: (1) Northeastern University at Boston by Gene Cooperman; (2) ACM Federated Computing Research Conference at San Jose by Emil Volcheck, which was presented by Erich Kaltofen. The votes are 30 for Boston and 36 for San Jose. So, San Jose won the bid. 4. ISSAC 2009 Report. The treasurer of ISSAC 2009, Eberly Wayne, reported the number of attendees of financial situation of ISSAC 2009. According to the ISSAC website, 110 people pre-registered for ISSAC 2009. There were several on-site registrations. According to preliminary calculations, ISSAC 2009 will make a profit. 5. ISSAC 2010 Update The conference chair of ISSAC 2010, Wolfram Koepf, presented the update for ISSAC 2010. The organization of ISSAC 2010 is on time. The PC is already formed and the CFP is available at the conference. Stephen Watt, the PC chair of ISSAC 2010, proposed possible ISSAC submission and referee changes: (1) short author response to the referee reports and (2) early submission of abstracts. There are some discussions. The Steering Committee thought that it is the right of PC chair to organize the submission process and refereeing procedure. 6. Website for ISSAC A website for ISSAC was set up by Stepehn Watt at: http://www.issac-symposium.org. An SC member will maintain the website. Michael Monagan agreed to do so. The website will archive: (1) Past ISSAC documents (2) ISSAC bylaws and other possible new rules for ISSAC (3) Steering Committee members, past and present. 7. Yosuke Sato and Michael Monagan suggested that software session at ISSAC should be consistent, possibly with a time slot for presentation at the conference based on a carefully refereeing procedure. 8.
