---------------------------------------------------------------------- ISSAC 2021 International Symposium on Symbolic and Algebraic Computation July 18-22 2021 Saint Petersburg, Russia CALL FOR PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS http://www.issac-conference.org/2021 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The International Symposium on Symbolic and Algebraic Computation is the premier conference for research in symbolic computation and computer algebra. ISSAC 2021 will be the 46th meeting in the series, which started in 1966 and has been held annually since 1981. The conference presents a range of invited talks, tutorials, poster sessions, software demonstrations and vendor exhibits with a centerpiece of contributed research papers. ISSAC 2021 will be held on 18-22 July 2021 at St. Petersburg Department of V.A. Steklov Mathematical Institute (PDMI RAS), Saint Petersburg, Russia. Preceding the ISSAC 2021 main conference, workshops will be held on Sunday July 18th. We invite researchers interested in chairing one of these workshops to submit proposals. Workshop organizers will have several responsibilities, including coordinating workshop participation and content, publicizing and providing the program in a timely manner and moderating the program throughout the workshop. The goal of the workshops is to provide an informal forum for researchers to discuss emerging research questions and challenges. Workshops will last half a day or a full day, with morning and afternoon sessions and free time between the sessions for individual exchange. The workshops can be on any subject relevant to an appreciable fraction of the ISSAC community. Schedules should encourage lively debates, and topics should lean more towards exploring new ideas, open problems, and interdisciplinary areas, compared with the main conference. The organizers of accepted workshops will be responsible for their own reviewing process (if any) and proceedings production (if any). Concerning publicity (sending calls for contributions, if any) and registration (mandatory), the workshop organizers will be helped by the ISSAC 2021 Publicity Chair and Local Arrangements Committee. The organizers will also be required to closely cooperate with the ISSAC 2021 General Chair, Local Arrangements Chair, and Publicity Chair to finalize all organizational details. Workshop attendees must register for the workshop as well as for the main conference days. Workshop proposals should be received by the General Chair no later than November 15, 2020. The General Chair and Local Arrangements Chair will run a light selection process to ensure relevance of the workshops to ISSAC. Proposals should clearly specify the following: - A workshop title - A brief description of the topics to be covered, and an explanation as to why the workshop will appeal to ISSAC audiences - A rough description of the wanted workshop format, including the planned number and duration of talks - A list of organizers with email addresses Topics --------- All areas of computer algebra and symbolic mathematical computation are of interest. These include, but are not limited to: Algorithmic aspects: * Exact and symbolic linear, polynomial and differential algebra * Symbolic-numeric, homotopy, perturbation and series methods * Computational algebraic geometry, group theory and number theory * Computer arithmetic * Summation, recurrence equations, integration, solution of ODEs & PDEs * Symbolic methods in other areas of pure and applied mathematics * Complexity of algebraic algorithms and algebraic complexity Software aspects: * Design of symbolic computation packages and systems * Language design and type systems for symbolic computation * Data representation * Considerations for modern hardware * Algorithm implementation and performance tuning * Mathematical user interfaces Application aspects: * Applications that stretch the current limits of computer algebra algorithms or systems, use computer algebra in new areas or new ways, or apply it in situations with broad impact.
